Metro weekend work to slow Red, Blue, Orange lines

Metro’s spring break from track work is over, really over. The transit agency is shutting down portions of the Red and Blue lines and single tracking on the Orange Line this weekend.

The work begins at 10 p.m. Friday and runs through Sunday, which means delays for riders on those lines all weekend.

For the closed portions of the system, riders can take a free shuttle bus between the affected stations but they should build in an extra 30 minutes into their trip.

RED LINE: The line will be closed between Rhode Island Avenue and Silver Spring stations. (That means Takoma, Fort Totten, Brookland-CUA stations are closed for Red Line service.)

BLUE LINE: Trains will not run between Rosslyn and Pentagon stations. (That means Arlington Cemetery station is closed.)

ORANGE LINE: Trains will single track between East Falls Church and West Falls Church. The transit agency says it does not expect any “significant delays.”
