UPDATE, 2:45 p.m.: Police have identified the victim as 12-year-old Jessica Nguyen. The medical examiner has ruled her death a homicide, and police say she suffered trauma to the upper body.
ORIGINAL POST: Police are investigating the death of a girl found slain in her Gaithersburg home.
Officers responded to a report of a injured girl on the 700 block of Raven Avenue at about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. They found a girl dead in the home, Montgomery County police said. The girl was about 12 years old, said Officer Janelle Smith, a police spokeswoman.
The girl, whose name was not released, lived in that home with other family members, police said.
Police would not describe the girl’s injuries. The medical examiner is determining how and when she died, Smith said.
No charges have been filed in the case, Smith said. She said detectives were interviewing family members.
