Rick Scott says he is not interested in being Trump’s VP

Florida Gov. Rick Scott said Friday that he has no interest in being Donald Trump’s running mate despite having endorsed him after the state’s primary.

Scott made the statement in an interview with CNN’s Wolf Blitzer. He has been the subject of speculation as someone who could help Trump win Florida’s electoral votes.

“I’ll say no. I like this job. I worked hard to get this job. I love the 20 million people in my state and 100 million tourists,” Scott said. “I’ll do my best the last two years to make sure this is the No. 1 place in the world for jobs, education and public safety.”

“That’s a flat no. You have no interest,” Blitzer responded. “You don’t, under any circumstances, want to be his running mate?”

Scott remained firm he has no interest in the VP position.

“I predict Donald will have a big win, but I want to finish my job here as governor and do all the things we can to make this the state people can live to get a great job and a great education,” Scott said.

Scott currently has two years left in his term as governor.
