What do you remember about being 8 years old? Probably very little, if you didn’t get your cootie shot (Immunize: early and often!)
But according to education scholars, much of the learning that can “make or break” a student’s success takes place before that tender age. Montgomery County Superintendent Jerry Weast will be the keynote speaker at Tuesday’s “Birth Through Age 8: The Hidden Stories,” a conference hosted by New America Foundation.
Weast, who plans to retire in June after a 12-year reign, will join reps from the U.S. Department of Education, National Association of Elementary School Principals, Urban Institute and many more in downtown D.C. to give “an inside look at the hidden and often surprising stories that will shape the coming decade for students, parents, educators, American employers and the public at large,” according to the invitation.
The event is open only to journalists, but luckily, you know some of those. Stay tuned, and remember: Circle, circle. Dot, dot.
