Paul Manafort, former Trump campaign chairman, will provide Senate investigators with notes from the June 2016 meeting at Trump Tower with a Russian lawyer, according to a report.
Manafort will answer questions about the meeting, which also involved Donald Trump Jr. and Jared Kushner, the president’s son-in-law, according to Politico. He will also provide notes from the gathering.
The meeting with Natalia Veselnitskaya, the Russian lawyer, was orchestrated by a British publicist, Rob Goldstone, who has ties to the Trump family and promised Trump Jr. damaging information on Hillary Clinton.
According to emails Goldstone sent to Trump Jr., the information was part of Russia’s efforts to help Trump’s candidacy.
Manafort is currently under investigation for financial transactions and his business dealings, but it’s unclear what else he will be asked by Senate investigators.
Manafort’s session will be held in private.
Kushner also met with members of the Senate Intelligence Committee on Monday, and his session was closed.
Jason Maloni, Manafort’s spokesman, said Tuesday the former Trump campaign manager met with the committee this morning.
“Paul Manafort met this morning, by previous agreement, with the bipartisan staff of the Senate Intelligence Committee and answered their questions fully.”
