Mark Levin says he was ‘prepared to go to war’ before Facebook backed down on censorship of his page

Conservative radio host Mark Levin told his listeners Monday that Facebook backed down from its effort to limit the reach of certain posts on his page.

“I’m following up to confirm that Mr. Levin’s page should be restored over the next couple days,” an email from Facebook began, which Levin read aloud to his audience on his show Monday night.

“Let me just say this,” Levin continued. “There was no reason for any of this. It was very wise of Facebook to back down and back off because I was gearing up for a hell of a battle.”

“I was prepared to go to war, brutally, tomorrow,” Levin said later in the program while speaking to fellow conservative radio host Dan Bongino.

“Brother, I’ve been dealing with it for five years now,” Bongino — who has been a vocal critic of big tech censorship and recently bought a stake in the video-sharing platform Rumble in response to YouTube censorship of conservatives — told Levin.

“You have to fight back,” Bongino continued. “Don’t take it lying down.”

Earlier this week, Levin accused Facebook of censoring his posts and “pushing a leftwing agenda.”

“Facebook has just sent us this message. It’s a clear effort at censorship. Every link I post is from a legitimate source,” Levin tweeted Monday morning, along with a screenshot of a warning message saying he had shared “false news.”

Facebook has implemented a system of working with independent third-party fact-checkers in an attempt to curb what it deems to be misinformation on the platform.

“False news is harmful to our community, it makes the world less informed, and it erodes trust. It’s not a new phenomenon, and all of us — tech companies, media companies, newsrooms, teachers — have a responsibility to do our part in addressing it,” Facebook said in a post on its official website.

Facebook did not immediately respond to a request for comment from the Washington Examiner.
