Former KKK leader David Duke says Trump’s victory driven by ‘our people’

Former Grand Wizard of the KKK and Louisiana Senate candidate David Duke praised the election of Donald Trump as a win for “our people.”

Duke, who was disavowed by the Trump campaign, called Trump’s election a victory for the South and tweeted a photo of people waving the Confederate battle flag in celebration.

Duke received about 3 percent of the vote in the Louisiana Senate race Tuesday night, losing to Republican John Kennedy.

“This is one of the most exciting nights of my life,” Duke wrote. “Make no mistake about it, our people have played a huge role in electing Trump.”

He added that his supporters now have the “moral high ground,” called MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow a “traitor” and said “YOU PEOPLE ARE DONE” in reference to the media.

Duke also praised WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, whose group spent much of the last month of the campaign leaking emails from Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton’s campaign manager. WikiLeaks also released thousands of emails hacked from the Democratic National Committee earlier in the year.

“GOD BLESS WIKILEAKS,” Duke wrote. “Julian Assange is a hero … America owes this man one thing … FREEDOM!!!!”

He added that the “filth” in Hollywood who said they wanted to leave the country if Trump won the election can “get the hell out.”
