The Justice Department has declined to prosecute former FBI Director James Comey over for allegedly mishandling classified information.
The Justice Department inspector general’s office referred Comey for potential prosecution after investigators found the former director had kept FBI memos he wrote containing classified information in his home. Some of the memos he kept he gave to Daniel Richman, an attorney and friend, to leak to the New York Times.
Justice Department prosecutors declined to go after Comey because of a lack of evidence Comey intentionally violated the law, or even knew what the law was on securely storing classified information, according to CNN.
