White House homeland security adviser Tom Bossert resigned from his position Tuesday morning.
Jennifer Jacobs of Bloomberg News first reported the move, which was followed by a statement from the White House.
“The president is grateful for Tom’s commitment to the safety and security of our great country,” said press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders. “President Trump thanks him for his patriotic service and wishes him well.”
Jacobs later reported that Bossert’s resignation came at the request of new National Security Adviser John Bolton.
Bossert, formerly a national security staffer under George W. Bush, headed issues pertaining to cybersecurity, counterterrorism, and natural disasters.
