Hunter Biden, the son of Joe Biden, admitted he had “poor judgment” to sit on the board of a Ukrainian gas company, and said that he was only on corporate boards because of his father.
“It is impossible for me to be on any of the boards that I just mentioned without saying that I am the son of the vice president of the United States,” Hunter Biden said in a Monday ABC interview, adding he would “probably not” have been on the board of the Ukrainian gas company if his name was not Biden.
He followed up his statement in the interview by saying, “I don’t think there’s a lot of things that would have happened in my life if my last name wasn’t Biden.”
Hunter Biden said he did nothing “improper” in joining the board but that it might have been “poor judgment.”
“I did nothing wrong at all. However, was it poor judgment to be in the middle of something that is a, it’s a swamp in many ways? Yeah. And so, I take full responsibility for that,” he said.
Hunter Biden has come front and center in the 2020 presidential election as House Democrats have opened an impeachment inquiry into Trump after he asked the Ukrainian president to investigate Hunter Biden and Joe Biden.
Joe Biden has defended his son and said the media should not be covering his business dealings despite its close connection to the impeachment inquiry. The Deleware Democrat said he would ban his family in the future from holding positions in foreign businesses if elected president.
