WATCH LIVE: Fauci and health officials testify in Senate hearing about coronavirus response

Dr. Anthony Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, is scheduled to testify before the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee at 10 a.m. EST on Tuesday about the Trump administration’s coronavirus response and how the nation can safely return to work and school.

Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Stephen Hahn, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Robert Redfield, and coronavirus testing coordinator Brett Giroir will also provide testimony. The officials will testify via videoconference as some of them are self-quarantining after coming in contact with White House staffers who have COVID-19.

In March, Fauci testified during a House Oversight Committee hearing that the United States was “failing” on coronavirus testing. He is expected to warn on Tuesday that reopening the country prematurely could cause “needless suffering and death.”
