'Disgusting hit job': Mark Levin slams New York Times story saying he's helping stoke the flames of potential Election Day violence

Conservative radio show host Mark Levin slammed a New York Times article saying “misinformation” from conservative outlets and commentators are inflaming calls of violence on Election Day.

“A disgusting hit job was just published by leftwing New York Times hack Davey Alba, who’s trying to lay the radical left’s threats of election day violence on me, Dan Bongino, and others,” Levin tweeted Tuesday.

“Of course, one Democrat leader and liberal media type after another have been talking about using the military to remove President Trump. But Dan and I have not promoted violence. I have mocked the Left’s threats and sarcastically turned the tables in a single post,” he continued. “Alba knows this but she writes a disgusting hit piece anyway. I’ll address this on radio tomorrow.”

The New York Times story, “Riled Up: Misinformation Stokes Calls for Violence on Election Day,” began by stating conservative commentator Dan Bongino made “baseless claims” that “Democrats were planning a coup against President Trump on Election Day.”

“For just over 11 minutes, Mr. Bongino talked about how bipartisan election experts who had met in June to plan for what might happen after people vote were actually holding exercises for such a coup. To support his baseless claim, he twisted the group’s words to fit his meaning,” Alba wrote in the New York Times.

Later in the story, Alba wrote that Levin and conservative outlets such as the Daily Wire put forth “misinformation” that has added “contentiousness to an already powder-keg campaign season.”

“The misinformation, which has been amplified by right-wing media such as the Fox News host Mark Levin and outlets like Breitbart and The Daily Wire, adds contentiousness to an already powder-keg campaign season. Mr. Trump has repeatedly declined to say whether he would accept a peaceful transfer of power if he lost to his Democratic challenger, Joseph R. Biden Jr., and has urged his supporters ‘to go into the polls and watch very carefully.’”

Bongino responded to the story, saying Alba is “inciting violence” against him.

“The NY Time’s Davey Alba is inciting violence against me for exposing the left’s calls for a ‘street fight’ after the election & a ‘coup.; This is classic Soviet-style disinformation & Alba should be embarrassed. These are genuinely awful human beings without a shred of decency,” Bongino said.
