President Trump backed House Republican attempts to get the Ukraine whistleblower and House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff to testify for the House impeachment hearings.
“Where is the Whistleblower who gave so much false information? Must testify along with Schiff and others!” Trump said Monday on Twitter. Schiff signaled last week that he would not follow through with “sham” witness requests from House Republicans.

“This inquiry is not, and will not serve, however, as a vehicle to undertake the same sham investigations into the Bidens or 2016 that the President pressed Ukraine to conduct for his personal political benefit, or to facilitate the President’s effort to threaten, intimidate, and retaliate against the whistleblower who courageously raised the initial alarm,” the California Democrat said.
Democratic California Rep. Devin Nunes sent a request to Schiff asking for the Ukraine whistleblower along with Hunter Biden to be witnesses for the public hearings that begin Wednesday. Nunes also wanted closed-door testimony from Schiff about the whistleblower.
House Democrats have tried to keep the identity of the whistleblower a secret despite several media outlets alleging the whistleblower is Eric Ciaramella. The 33-year-old career CIA analyst was the Ukraine director for the National Security Council during part of the Obama administration. He is now the deputy national intelligence officer for Russia and Eurasia on the National Intelligence Council according to reporting from the Washington Examiner on Oct. 7.
