Two people were hurt and one died during a shooting outside an Amazon facility in Jacksonville, Florida.
A 20-year-old man was fatally shot while waiting outside to apply for a job at an Amazon warehouse on Monday, according to Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office Assistant Chief Brian Kee. Kee said the man was approached by two other men around 2 p.m. The two men shot and killed the victim. Two bystanders, a 22-year-old man and a 29-year-old man, were also grazed by the gunfire but did not require hospitalization.

“This is not random. It was specifically targeting this victim,” Kee said during a press conference on Monday. “We are not inside the facility at all.”
The sheriff’s office said three suspects, including the two gunmen and their driver, have not been apprehended.
“We’re trying to determine what the motive was, why they were after this victim. We have about 10 eyewitnesses that were both inside and outside of the facility,” Kee said. “This does not appear to be a workplace violent incident that you would normally associate with workplace violence or mass shootings.”
Amazon placed the facility on lockdown immediately after the shooting occurred. The company plans to have counselors and support available on-site for employees affected by the incident.
“This is a terrible tragedy. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families, and all those who have been impacted by this incident. We are working closely with the Sheriff as they investigate,” said Amazon spokesman Timothy Carter.
One witness told News 4 Jax that she heard five or six rounds fired before the suspects took off. The sheriff’s office tweeted a photograph of the vehicle that the suspects used to escape and asked the public to come forward with any additional information about the suspects.
