The vice chairman of the Democratic National Committee attacked Tucker Carlson while he appeared on a different Fox News program.
Michael Blake joined America’s Newsroom Tuesday morning and was asked about a comment from the prime-time host in which he argued that former first lady Michelle Obama could be the party’s best bet to beat President Trump in 2020. Blake took the opportunity bash Carlson instead of answering the question asked of him.
“The core question is, why the hell does Tucker Carlson still have a job here in the first place?” he asked. “The reality is, this is someone who said white supremacy is a hoax. And why does Fox allow him to still be here in the first place?”
Bill Hemmer, the host of the show, interjected by shutting down Blake’s attack and repeated the question.
“Not going to happen, but I think the core question is, he shouldn’t be on here at all,” Blake, who is also a New York State Assembly member, responded.
Hemmer then added that Blake was brought on the show to discuss Carlson’s comments about Obama, not his personal feelings about the network host.
Carlson has faced accusations of pushing anti-immigrant sentiments on his show for months. Last December, activists called for advertisers to pull commercials from his show after he said certain immigrants make the country “poorer and dirtier.” Those calls grew even louder after old shock-jock radio segments were released in March exposing additional controversial statements from Carlson.
Despite the calls for said boycotts, Carlson’s show remains one of the most watched cable news programs, regularly trailing closely behind his network colleague Sean Hannity.
