RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Virginia highway officials say the state is likely to exceed its $157 million snow removal budget by more than $100 million.

The Virginia Department of Transportation said in a news release Wednesday that it will have to move some money around in its overall maintenance budget to cover the costs of dealing with the exceptionally harsh winter. Transportation Secretary Aubrey Layne says VDOT still has adequate resources to ensure that the highways are safe and well maintained.
