WATCH: Thanksgiving dinner served to passengers on NYC subway

Commuters on one New York City subway train got a head start on Thanksgiving after being served a full feast while traveling through Brooklyn.

The passengers were riding on the L train toward Canarsie on Sunday when they happened upon a Thanksgiving meal, complete with a turkey, gravy, macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes, and cornbread.

Videos from the train show commuters standing around a table, complete with a white tablecloth, as they were being served a classic Thanksgiving dinner by someone wearing an apron. It also appears as though the passengers were served glasses of sparkling wine.

Jodell “Joe Show” Lewis, a local comedian, told the New York Post that he was behind the meal and said it took “months of work” to pull off.

“I chose the L line after waiting 20 minutes for a train to take me to Brooklyn and seeing how dreary and upset riders were at the inconvenience the new construction provided,” he said. “My actions also show people from out of town visiting that there is flavor here in the city, and New York has a heart.”

Lewis posted videos of the feast to Instagram, showing the happy travelers chowing down.
