Getaway driver in strip-club shooting guilty

The getaway driver in a Baltimore City strip-club showdown with police pleaded guilty Monday.

David Robinson, 35, admitted his guilt in Baltimore City Circuit Court to attempted armed robbery and handgun violations. Judge Brooke Murdock sentenced him to 15 years in prison.

On April 5, at 1:45 a.m., Alexander Reiff and Gregory Eaton entered Fantasies Nightclub armed with a 9 mm Ruger handgun and a 12-gauge shotgun, announced a robbery and ordered about 20 people to the ground, prosecutors said.

Eaton then discharged the shotgun into the ceiling, police said.

But two off-duty police officers ? customers at the all-nude adult club ? drew their guns and shot Reiff and Eaton, according to prosecutors.

Eaton, 30, died at University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center. Reiff, whom police said was wearing body armor, survived his injuries. His trial is scheduled for Jan. 28, 2008.

Robinson admitted Monday that he was outside the club in a getaway Ford pickup truck that the group had stolen in Hyattsville.

After the shooting, he fled the club and the abandoned truck was found near a relative?s house in Glen Burnie, prosecutors said
