“The Daily Show” host Trevor Noah mocked the White House under President Trump for becoming a place professional sports teams want to avoid.
On his show Tuesday, the comedian said that it is “weird” that teams are opting to avoid the traditional White House celebrations of championship victories, and made a quip that even the lowly Cleveland Browns would avoid being seen with Trump.
“Can we just acknowledge how weird it is that under Trump no one wants to visit the White House anymore. The Golden State Warriors wouldn’t go last year. The Eagles won’t go this year,” Noah said. “In fact, the Cleveland Browns released a statement saying the only reason they’ve never won the Super Bowl is because they don’t want to meet Trump. Apparently they’re not losing, they’re #resisting.”
Noah continued to poke fun at Trump for appearing to not know the words to the song “God Bless America” during the “Celebration of America” Tuesday.
“You would think that if you’ve invited people over for a patriotism party, you would at least know the words to America’s favorite songs,” Noah said.
“Whenever Trump is losing an argument he just grabs the anthem and holds it in front of himself like, ‘You wouldn’t hit the anthem, would you?’”

Noah’s response came after Trump disinvited the Philadelphia Eagles from the Super Bowl celebration at the White House. The event was replaced with a “Celebration of America” at the White House. The Trump administration defended their decision to cancel the celebration, claiming “the vast majority of the Eagles team decided to abandon their fans” after learning only a small handful of players were able to attend.
