Georgetown DMV office to close

The District Department of Motor Vehicles service center in Georgetown will close Saturday at 4 p.m. because the mall it’s in is being renovated.

A temporary service center at 301 C St. NW won’t open until two weeks later, on June 4. DMV officials don’t know whether the Georgetown center will ever reopen, the agency tweeted Thursday.

The D.C. DMV is encouraging motorists to use its online services until the service center reopens. The DMV also operates service centers at 3220 Pennsylvania Ave. SE and 95 M St. SW.

The DMV, notorious for its long wait times, is also notifying the public that its offices will be closed May 26 and May 28 in observance of Memorial Day.
