More than two dozen Jewish Democrats in the House of Representatives sent a letter to the White House calling for the removal of Senior White House Adviser Stephen Miller.
Miller, 34, has been accused of promoting white nationalist ideas and policies in the White House. Last month, the Southern Poverty Law Center published a multitude of emails he sent to then-Breitbart News reporter Katie McHugh where he directed her to articles published on other publications, which are commonly viewed as white nationalist sites. Miller also had some editorial control over her.
The letter was co-written by Reps. Bradley Schneider and Debbie Wasserman Schultz and 23 other Jewish Democrats signed the letter, according to the Sun Sentinel.
“As Jewish members of Congress, we are calling on you to immediately relieve White House Senior Advisor Steven Miller of all government responsibilities and dismiss him from your Administration,” the letter says. “His documented support for white nationalist and virulently anti-immigrant troops is wholly unacceptable and disqualifying for a government employee.”
The letter also addresses the White House’s response to previous calls for Miller’s removal — claiming that those calls were coming from anti-Semites who don’t like he’s Jewish. White House spokesman Hogan Gidley, in a statement at the time the emails were published, that, “Mr Miller condemns racism and bigotry in all forms, but what deeply concerns me is how so many on the left are allowed to spread vile anti-Semitism and consistently attack proud Jewish members of this administration.”
The Jewish Democrats’ letter went on, “We are also deeply troubled that your Administration is claiming that legitimate criticism of Miller is anti-Semitic simply because Miller is Jewish,” the letter continued. “Nothing could be further from the truth. Hateful ideology is not just unacceptable, it is un-American, irrespective of the faith, race, or nationality of the individual promoting it. Weaponizing anti-Semitism is incredibly dangerous — by muddying the waters, we are no longer able to see and fight against the real anti-Semites in our midst.”
Miller addressed the calls for his resignation in an interview with Fox Business host Trish Regan, which will air Friday night, however some parts have been released early. The taping of the interview occurred before letter was publicized.

“Not only am I [not a white nationalist], but I find the accusation to be profoundly offensive and completely outrageous and it’s an attempt on the part of the Democratic Party to attack and demonize a Jewish staffer,” Miller stated in a clip that Regan released on social media. “Make no mistake, there’s a deep vein of anti-Semitism that is running through today’s Democratic Party.”
“I think the fact that they are continuing to accuse a Jew of being a white nationalist is inherently anti-Semitic because if you understand anything at all, you realize that families like mine have been persecuted by individuals holding white nationalist and white supremacist ideology,” he added. “My family for generations, going back to eastern Europe has been the victims of this ideology. And to say to a Jewish person that you hold the very ideology that has persecuted your own family is so profoundly inappropriate.”
