House lawmakers on Tuesday will receive a classified briefing on the Orlando shooting from FBI Director James Comey and Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson.
House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., requested the members-only briefing about the attack, which was carried out by U.S.-born Omar Mateen, who authorities suspect of being inspired by terrorist groups, including the Islamic State.
The FBI had been alerted to Mateen twice in the past three years but took Mateen off the terror watch list when they could find no direct link to terrorism.
National Counterterrorism Center Director Nick Rasmussen will also participate in the briefing.
