NEW YORK (AP) — U.S. stock indexes edged lower Thursday as two positive economic reports were offset by more declines in technology companies. Citigroup fell 6 percent after the Federal Reserve denied the bank’s proposal to raise its dividend and buy back more stock. The Fed approved plans by other banks to raise their dividends.
KEEPING SCORE: The Standard & Poor’s 500 index lost six points, or 0.3 percent, to 1,846 as of noon Eastern time. The Dow Jones industrial average was down 25 points, or 0.2 percent, to 16,273 and the tech-heavy Nasdaq composite fell 26 points, or 0.6 percent, to 4,146.
