Mika Brzezinski: Alan Dershowitz is ‘equally a shill and a stooge’

The co-hosts of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” mocked Alan Dershowitz on Thursday after the famed lawyer wrote an opinion piece complaining he had been “shunned” by supposed friends while holidaying at Martha’s Vineyard, Mass., over his vocal defense of President Trump’s “civil liberties.”

After Joe Scarborough introduced Dershowitz’s op-ed, Mika Brzezinski said the Harvard Law School professor emeritus and frequent legal commentator “doesn’t want to be lectured, people.”

“Because he wouldn’t do that,” Brzezinski continued.

“He’s actually run resistance not only for Republicans abusing power but also Democrats, as he writes,” Scarborough added.

“Yes. He’s equally a shill and a stooge,” Brzezinski replied.

In the piece, Dershowitz wrote of how he voted and donated to Hillary Clinton in 2016, but his criticism of special counsel Robert Mueller’s federal Russia investigation had been misconstrued by former associates as a demonstration of support for Trump. He likened the experience of being ostracized to McCarthyism in the 1950s.

“For them, it is enough that what I have said about the Constitution might help Trump. So they are shunning me and trying to ban me from their social life on Martha’s Vineyard,” Dershowitz wrote.
