New Clinton ad: ‘Forty-four boys is too many’

Hillary Clinton is out with a new ad highlighting the fact that she would be the first woman president if elected.

In the ad, “44 boys is too many,” little girls read letters they wrote to the former secretary of state and explain why they want her to be president.

“I’m so excited you have the chance to becomes the first woman president,” one young girl’s letter reads, “Because from George Washington to Barack Obama it is ridiculous that there has not been a woman president before. Forty-four boys is too many!”

On the campaign trail, Clinton often invokes her gender as a positive reason for her candidacy. When critics say this is playing the gender card, she shoots back, “If fighting for women’s rights is playing the gender card, then deal me in!”

“As First Lady, Senator and Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton made significant strides to empower women and girls in this country and throughout the world,” Clinton depty communciuations director Kristina Schake said in a statement. “She continues to be driven by the idea that every little girl has the potential to be anything she wants to be and Clinton herself is a living testament to that idea… The conversations in this video are a powerful reminder of that.”

The short campaign ad was first aired at a Women for Hillary event in Washington D.C., on Monday night and hit the Internet on Tuesday.
