‘They want segregation’: Tucker Carlson blasts Washington lawmakers as ‘lunatics’ create Seattle autonomous zone

Tucker Carlson lashed out at Washington bureaucrats, including Gov. Jay Inslee, for failing to respond to protesters who have taken over a six-block radius of Seattle.

Carlson on Wednesday accused the group of wanting to reinforce segregation and read a list of demands, including the closure of the Seattle Police Department and new trials for all non-white prisoners within the city.

“They demand segregated hospitals, something we were pleased to get over 60 years ago, but they want them back,” he said on his show. “They want black doctors and nurses exclusively hired to care for black patients. They want segregation — you cool with that?”

A group of Seattle protesters established the “Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone,” an area surrounding an abandoned Seattle police precinct that is now controlled by protesters, this week. The demonstrators used anything they could find to create a wall blocking movement through the zone.

Fox News reporter Dan Springer told Carlson that a local Washington TV station recorded a video of several men with semi-automatic rifles demanding money before allowing passage through the zone. Carlson played footage of Inslee being asked about the zone at a press conference hours earlier, during which the Democrat responded that he had not heard anything about it.

“Yeah, not a big deal,” Carlson jabbed mockingly. “A group of racist lunatics with semi-automatic weapons that’s created its own country in the middle of your biggest city, but you’re not really worried that that’s happening.”

Among a list of requests, the group demands the closure of the Seattle Police Department and the court system, the disarming of all police officers until the department is shut down, and the closing of all youth jails. They are also calling for all non-white felons to be given a retrial of their cases.

At one point, protesters began chanting, “Defund SPD,” and demanded the resignation of Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan.
