Ivanka Trump donates hundreds of meals to front-line workers at the ‘epicenter of the epicenter’

Ivanka Trump donated 400 meals to New York City hospital workers at Elmhurst Hospital in Queens to thank staff for their work during the pandemic.

The president’s daughter arranged for subs and sandwiches to be catered by a local deli, Anthony & Son Panini Shoppe, in Brooklyn, a source told Page Six. The treats were delivered to a hard hit Queens hospital, which has been labeled the “epicenter of the epicenter” of the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States.

Restaurant staff prepared several of their specials for frontline workers, including a sandwich called “The Patriot,” which is loaded with roast beef, ham, turkey, and mustard. “The Godfather” sandwich, which comes with a variety of Italian cold cuts and fresh mozzarella, was also delivered.

The delivery was the latest charitable act from the first daughter, who ordered 800 meals last week for medics at St. Francis Medical Center in Trenton, New Jersey. Gov. Phil Murphy thanked Trump and called her efforts, “Very much appreciated.”

Trump, 38, works at the White House, alongside her husband, as a senior adviser to President Trump.

A source told Newsweek that Ivanka Trump was partially motivated to deliver food to New Jersey first responders to teach her children the importance of generosity and appreciation for healthcare workers.

“First and foremost, she wanted to do something for the frontline workers who are in one of the hardest-hit areas of the country and to support the small businesses that are struggling in this time. And she certainly wanted it to be a moment where her kids could be in on giving back and a teachable moment on generosity, but also a lesson on how our healthcare workers are heroes,” the source said.
