A black Mercedes-Benz crashed into the lobby of the Trump Plaza in New Rochelle, New York, on Tuesday, injuring the driver and one other person.
Law enforcement said the crash, which happened shortly before 9 p.m., appeared to be an accident but police are still investigating.
The driver, whom police identified as a 63-year-old man from Larchmont, New York, said “he had ‘blacked out’ prior to striking Trump Plaza,” according to a news release from the New Rochelle Police Department.
“The [driver] showed no signs of impairment, and it appears that he suffered from a medical condition which contributed to the accident,” the release said.
A 41-year-old doorman was also injured in the incident. Police said both men sustained minor injuries.
One witness said the driver of the vehicle got out of the car following the crash and sat on a sofa in the lobby.
Videos and photos shared on social media showed the car with its trunk and hood open sitting in the building’s lobby amid broken glass.

The 40-story building at 175 Huguenot Street opened in 2007. It has 194 condos and includes an indoor pool, a fitness center, and outdoor roof deck. President Trump said the opening of the building in downtown New Rochelle was an important milestone in “the renaissance” of the city.
