Baltimore felon sentenced to 8 years in prison
A felon in possession of ammunition was sentenced to eight years in prison Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Baltimore.
Federal Judge Andre Davis sentenced Daron Brown, 48, of Baltimore, after finding that Brown is an armed career criminal based on three prior convictions for a violent felony or drug trafficking.
According to Brown?s guilty plea, a burglary was reported in June 2006 at a Baltimore home from which 16 firearms were taken.
On July 24, 2006, Brown admitted to several burglaries, including the home burglary, after being confronted by police. They searched his residence and seized two shotgun shells, prosecutors said.
“Just two bullets led to today?s conviction and sentence,” Baltimore City State?s Attorney Patricia Jessamy said. “I proposed similar state legislation in 2003 and 2004 to the Maryland legislature as part ofour EXILE gun legislation; ultimately it failed in the General Assembly.” ? Luke Broadwater
