New Jersey governor urges Trump fundraiser attendees to ‘take full precautions’ after president tests positive for COVID-19

New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy issued an urgent message to people who attended President Trump’s recent fundraiser after the commander in chief tested positive for COVID-19.

A statement released Friday morning from the Democrat urged “everyone who attended yesterday’s event in Bedminster to take full precautions, including self-quarantining and getting tested.”

The president flew to Bedminster, New Jersey, on Thursday for a private fundraiser. CNN reported that White House officials knew that one of the president’s advisers, Hope Hicks, who had been in close contact with Trump, had tested positive for COVID-19 beforehand.

“Tammy and I send our best wishes to President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump for a speedy and complete return to good health. If there is one thing we have learned in New Jersey over these months, it’s that we pull together and support everyone fighting this virus,” Murphy said.

It was not immediately clear if anyone else who attended the event has tested positive for COVID-19.
