Trump parrots Fox & Friends rebuke of Obama for statement about mass shootings

President Trump paraphrased Fox & Friends for their criticism of former President Barack Obama after Obama released a statement about the mass shootings over the weekend that included veiled shots at Trump.

Over the weekend, over 30 people were killed in mass shootings hours apart in El Paso, Texas and Dayton, Ohio.

Obama released a statement on Monday and he began by expressing his condolences.

“We should soundly reject language coming of the mouths of any of our leaders that feeds a climate of fear and hatred or normalizes racists sentiments; leaders who demonize those who don’t look like us, or suggest that other people, including immigrants, threaten our way of life, or refer to other people as sub-human, or imply that America belongs to just one certain type of people,” he also wrote.

Trump responded to the comments from Obama by quoting Fox & Friends’ commentary from Tuesday morning.

“Did George Bush ever condemn President Obama after Sandy Hook,” Trump tweeted, which is a quote he attributed to Brian Kilmeade. “President Obama had 32 mass shootings during his reign. Not many people said Obama is out of Control. Mass shootings were happening before the President even thought about running for Pres.”

The president also tweeted, “‘It’s political season and the election is around the corner. They want to continue to push that racist narrative.’ @ainsleyearhardt @foxandfriends And I am the least racist person. Black, Hispanic and Asian Unemployment is the lowest (BEST) in the history of the United States!”
