North Shore Landing open and affordable

Kim Summerlin and her fiancé, Joe Corteal, wanted a blank canvas when they went looking for a new home.

“I liked the fact that you could pick your own options,” Summerlin said of North Shore Landing, the Mandrin Homes development between Glen Burnie and Pasadena where she eventually wound up buying. “We did an island in the kitchen, recessed lighting, and a Jacuzzi tub in the bathroom.”

It’s all possible at North Shore Landing, a neighborhood of 50 three- and four-bedroom single-family homes starting at $452,900. With 2.5 bathroom standard and another full bathroom an option, the homes are quite spacious. They begin at 1,650-square-feet and can range up to 3,000.

There are 10 different styles of home, and all come with two-car garages and full basements that can be fashioned into living space.

“We don’t just finish out a rec room — we finish the entire basement,” said Connie Dougherty, sales manager for Mandrin Homes.

Two styles of homes have master suites on the first floor, and a third is a rancher. There are 9-foot ceilings, 42-inch cabinets in the kitchen, two-tone interior paint, and ceramic in the all the bathrooms. Irrigation systems are built into the yards, which are between a third and a half-acre.

The neighborhood itself is tucked away, close to major thoroughfares like Route 100, I-97 and the Baltimore Beltway, but removed from the hustle and bustle of the city.

“It’s a quiet, secluded place,” Dougherty said. “Mandrin could have squeezed 100 homes in there, but they wanted large lots.”

Options include a gas fireplace in the family room or bedroom, and turning that two-car garage into a three-car garage. It also can be shifted to feature a side entry.

“We’re in a great location, the lots are quite large, we have a common park, a soccer field, basketball and volleyball courts and a tot lot,” Dougherty said. “The value here is incredible for the size.”

That’s exactly what Summerlin thought when she first stopped in.

“When you first walk in [to my house], I love the entryway with the big ceilings,” she said. “I was looking for an open floor plan and an affordable price.”

She found both at North Shore Landing.
