Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) erupted at Hunter Biden for showing up at a House Oversight hearing, calling for him to be arrested as the committee debated holding him in contempt of Congress.
Hunter Biden, the son of President Joe Biden, showed up to the hearing about whether to hold him in contempt for failing to comply with a subpoena to sit for a deposition. Mace called his actions on Wednesday the “epitome of white privilege” and said he was “spitting” in the committee’s face.
The South Carolina Republican was then interrupted by a Democrat on the committee calling for a vote to hear from Hunter Biden in public at the hearing. She then questioned whether women are allowed to speak as the Democrat kept interrupting.
“Are women allowed to speak? You keep interrupting me?” “I think that Hunter Biden should be arrested right here, right now, and go straight to jail. Our nation is founded on the rule of law and the premise that the law applies equally to everyone, no matter what your last name is.”
Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ) then was recognized for a point of order, where he called the Democrat’s interruptions of Mace “absurd and inappropriate,” before giving the floor back to Mace.
“It does not matter who you are, where you come from, or who your father is, or your last name. Yes, I’m looking at you, Hunter Biden, as I’m speaking to you, you are not above the law at all,” Mace said. “The facts in this case are crystal clear. This committee used and issued a lawful subpoena to Hunter Biden, a critical witness and this committee’s investigation into Biden family corruption.”
“Hunter Biden and his lawyers do not claim privilege of any kind it’s because clearly he has none. They didn’t contest the legitimacy of our reasons for issuing the subpoena, no reasons, because they clearly are legitimate and yet he refused to comply,” she added.
Mace then argued that Hunter Biden should be “hauled off to jail” and criticized Democrats for hypocrisy regarding enforcement of congressional subpoenas. She also noted how she voted to hold Steve Bannon, an ally of former President Donald Trump, in contempt of Congress in 2021.
“I believe that Hunter Biden should be held completely in contempt. I think he should be hauled off to jail right now, because it wasn’t long ago to my friends on the other side of the aisle, that you also believed in the power of a congressional subpoena,” Mace said.
She later posted on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, calling Biden’s appearance a “PR stunt” and claimed he is “using his privilege to evade any sense of accountability.”
It's no secret that Hunter Biden is using his privilege to evade any sense of accountability. He showed up in the People's House as a PR stunt.

It's horrendous that my colleagues on the other side of the aisle are standing him as he spits in the face of the American people.

Hunter Biden’s surprise appearance only lasted for the beginning of the hearing, and he took few questions as he left. This is Biden’s second appearance on Capitol Hill in the past month, without complying with the subpoena from the House. He held a press conference outside of the Capitol in December when he called for a public hearing rather than a closed-door deposition.
