Rudy Giuliani begs Jeff Sessions to step in and end Michael Cohen investigation

Rudy Giuliani called on Attorney General Jeff Sessions to “step in” and place the Justice Department “under investigation” for allegedly wiretapping Trump’s personal attorney Michael Cohen, according to a report Thursday.

“I am waiting for the Attorney General to step in, in his role as defender of justice, and put these people under investigation,” Giuliani told The Hill in response to a report that Cohen’s phones were tapped.

Giuliani, who recently joined Trump’s legal team, told the Hill that if the reported wiretapping was true, it would total up to “gross misconduct” by the government.

The former New York City mayor told the outlet that although he has yet to speak to the president regarding the news, Trump would likely be angry about the reported wiretapping.

“He is going to say to me, ‘Isn’t there an attorney-client privilege?’ And I am going to tell him, ‘No, the Department of Justice seems to want to trample all over the Constitution of the United States,'” Giuliani said.

NBC News reported Thursday it was “not clear how long the wiretap has been authorized”, but it was “in place in the weeks leading up to the raid” on his office, hotel, and home in April.

The outlet also reported that “at least one phone call between a phone line associated with Cohen and the White House was intercepted” during the tap.

Giuliani shook up Washington Wednesday after he revealed to Sean Hannity during his Fox News show that Trump reimbursed Cohen for the $130,000 that he paid to porn star Stormy Daniels.

Trump told reporters on Air Force One last month that he was not aware of the payment made to Daniels.
