Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) is reportedly going to meet with President Joe Biden to try to bring him toward the center of the political spectrum.
Manchin said he was planning to meet with the president in the coming days at a gathering with donors in Connecticut, Fox Business reported, in an effort to “move him to the center.” He heavily implied that the meeting will decide whether or not he decides to run in 2024 on the third-party No Labels ticket.
The West Virginia Democrat recalled past meetings he’s had with the president, each of which made him more disillusioned with Biden. At one meeting, Biden bragged that he “appointed the most diverse administration in the nation’s history,” to which Manchin countered that they were diverse racially but monolithic politically.

At other meetings, Manchin criticized Biden’s decision to back massive stimulus programs, saying he was just “handing people money.”
Manchin has positioned himself as a consistent critic of his own party, saying it is betraying its values by shifting to the left. He has toyed with the idea of running for president as an independent to save the country from the extremes.
