EXCLUSIVE — A Pro-Tim Sheehy super PAC is launching a six-figure statewide radio ad buy, hitting a Democratic-aligned group that has been attacking Sheehy in the primary.
The ad from More Jobs, Less Government PAC, the pro-Sheehy super PAC, goes after Last Best Place PAC for attacking the Montana Republican and emphasizes the group’s extensive ties to Democrats.
“Have you seen an ad from Last Best Place PAC? The one’s calling America-first conservative Tim Sheehy ‘shady Sheehy,’” the radio ad says. “But the group airing the ad? Well, they’re the ones who are shady. That’s because Last Best Place PAC is tied to big-money Democrat donors. Why? Because Democrats are trying to interfere in the Republican primary to hurt pro-Trump Tim Sheehy and help liberal Jon Tester.”
The ad then touts Sheehy’s conservative record. The radio piece will be accompanied by mailers hitting the group.
Sheehy is the main candidate running in the Republican primary and is the front-runner to take on Sen. Jon Tester (D-MT). Former Montana Secretary of State Brad Johnson has also jumped into the race, but he has gained little traction.
It is expected that Rep. Matt Rosendale (R-MT) will hop in the race, something Senate GOP leadership does not want to happen, as they think it could jeopardize the chances of picking that seat up after he lost to Tester in 2018. Rosendale’s entrance into the race would likely shake up the field, something Democrats could capitalize on ahead of a competitive general election.
Last Best Place PAC has spent $2.6 million in the Republican primary attacking Sheehy, but the group has extensive ties to Democrats. While the PAC has not been required to report donors, filings show its registered bank is Amalgamated Bank, which is used by the Democratic National Committee, the Democratic Governors Association, and other Democratic groups.
Federal Communications Commission records show that a media buyer called Mountain Media Agency purchased an ad for the group. The address listed by Mountain Media is also used by Old Town Media, which some Democratic campaigns use as a media buyer.

From the connections the super PAC has, it appears that Democrats are attempting to meddle in the Republican primary, similar to what they did in the 2022 midterm elections, in which they spent millions to boost Republicans in the primary whom they believed they could beat handily.
A spokesperson for Last Best Place PAC did not respond to a request for comment.
