Prince George’s firefighter honored for rescuing 4 from blaze

Michael Conway has been fighting fires in Prince George’s County for nine years. But until last year, he’d never had to rescue anyone from the flames.

Luckily, his first try was a success. When a house fire erupted in Bowie in November with four women trapped inside, Conway rushed in and saved them.

On Jan. 23, Prince George’s Fire Chief Mark S. Bashoor presented the career firefighter with an Emergency Services Award for rescuing the women. He is also being recognized Sunday as Bowie’s firefighter of the year.
