Los Angeles Angels pitcher Tyler Skaggs dies at 27

Los Angeles Angels pitcher Tyler Skaggs, 27, died on Monday, the team announced.

“It is with great sorrow that we report Tyler Skaggs passed away earlier today in Texas. Tyler has, and always will be, an important part of the Angels Family. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Carli and his entire family during this devastating time,” the team said in a statement.

The Angels are in Texas and were scheduled to begin a four-game series against the Rangers, but Monday’s game was postponed following Skagg’s passing. The details surrounding his death have not been announced.

He last pitched for the Angels on Saturday going five innings against the Oakland A’s.
