Sharron Angle’s campaign is reportedly having a difficult time dealing with the press, according to the CBS affiliate in Las Vegas:
The reaction from the Angle campaign was swift. A campaign spokesperson called Nathan Baca “an idiot” and another term that can’t be repeated. The campaign spokesman did say he would detail Angle’s positions, but he refused to answer on camera.
Jim Geraghty writes: “A source close to the Angle campaign tells me that their campaign staff didn’t speak to this reporter, and as far as they can determine, they don’t know who called this reporter an idiot.”
The reporter, Nathan Baca, tells me that he believes Angle spokesman Jerry Stacy is the one who called him names. The spokesman didn’t identify himself but Baca says he recognized Stacy’s face. Baca says the incident is recorded, and the recording may be released later. “Asshole” is the word they couldn’t print in the story.
The Angle campaign may be frustrated by the fact that the press is scrutinizing her much more closely than it is scrutinizing Harry Reid, but dealing with reporters this way isn’t going to help.
Angle’s campaign did not immediately respond to messages requesting comment.
Update (6:22p.m.): Angle spokesman Jerry Stacy says it wasn’t him:
I reviewed the video. I do not recognize the person in the video that Mr. Baca was talking to. It was not an employee of the Angle Campaign.
I met Mr Baca on the morning of June 9th, 2010. He knows who I am. He gave me his business card. I do not look anything like the person in the video.
