Sen. Harry Reid on Tuesday unexpectedly weighed in on a court decision that upholds a four game suspension for New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, and said he’s with “Team Brady” all the way.
“Leave Tom Brady alone,” Reid, D-Nev., said in his opening statement to the press on Tuesday. “So he put too much air in a football. Leave him alone.”
Reid noted his statement was aligned with that of Donald Trump, who has also panned a federal appeals court ruling Monday that upholds the NFL’s decision to suspend Brady.
Despite Reid’s comment, Brady isn’t accused of over-inflating footballs. The league argued that Brady was involved in a scheme to deflate four footballs below the minimum standards for use by the Patriots in the AFC championship game against the Indianapolis Colts. Brady’s team won that game 45-7.
Reid said he also backs a proposal to build a domed stadium in Las Vegas that would serve as a new home for the Oakland Raiders.
