Kamala Harris viewed negatively by more than half of registered voters months ahead of election: Poll

Vice President Kamala Harris is viewed negatively by more than half of registered voters, just nine months before November’s general election, according to a recent poll.

Fifty-three percent of the 1,000 respondents have a negative opinion of the vice president, while just 28% view her positively, according to NBC News’s latest survey. The 28% who view her positively is a decrease of 4% compared to June.

Of those who view Harris negatively, 42% said they view her “very” negatively, while 11% said they view her “somewhat negatively.” Likewise, 10% of the respondents said they view the vice president “very” positively, and 18% said they view her “somewhat positively.”

Voters largely criticized the Biden administration for inflation and the border crisis, but Harris blamed low polling numbers over the past few months on U.S. voters not realizing how much the administration has allegedly helped the country.

“We have a lot of accomplishments,” Harris told journalist Katie Couric last month. “And I think what the American people want most in their leaders is that we actually get things done, and we have done it. We haven’t taken adequate credit for it, frankly, and we’ve got to do a better job of getting the word out about what we have accomplished and who did it.”

The same NBC poll, which was released on Sunday, also saw President Joe Biden trailing former President Donald Trump by 22 percentage points in a matchup when asked who the better candidate is to handle the economy. Trump received 55% of the responses, and Biden received 33%.

The poll was conducted from Jan. 26 to Jan. 30 and has a margin of error of 3.1 points.
