The Trump Organization violated New York City law when it failed to meet the deadline to register Trump Tower with the NYC Department of Housing Preservation and Development, according to a report Tuesday.
The skyscraper hasn’t been registered since 2016, a spokesperson for the department told NBC News. The Trump Organization did not register by the Sept. 1 deadline, which could result in a fine as high as $500 and may result in the loss of some property rights.
The organization has a $100 million mortgage on Trump Tower with Ladder Capital Strategies.
While the Trump Organization is now managed by his sons Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, President Trump has retained ownership of the company.
