Biden weighs executive action to end border crisis despite previous claims he had no such authority

President Joe Biden is considering broad executive action to stop admitting immigrants who illegally cross the border, a move that goes against his previous claims that he lacked legal authority to do so.

The White House is looking at citing Section 212(f) of the Immigration and Nationality Act, which would allow the government to stop admitting some or all non-U.S. citizens who come over the border illegally or seek asylum while in custody. The details of the plan remain unknown.
