Former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows has complied with a Justice Department subpoena related to its investigation into the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, according to a report.

Meadows reportedly provided the DOJ with the same material he gave the House Jan. 6 committee last year, according to CNN, which said that Meadows is the highest-ranking official to serve under former President Donald Trump known to have responded to a DOJ subpoena.

FIVE KEY QUESTIONS AS JAN. 6 HEARINGS SET TO RETAKE CENTER STAGE AHEAD OF MIDTERM ELECTIONS

Last year, the Jan. 6 committee subpoenaed Meadows for testimony and documents, arguing that he had knowledge about Trump’s plan to contest the results of the 2020 election. Meadows turned over documents, including a trove of text messages, to the committee after weeks of negotiation with the panel.

CNN reports that the documents Meadows turned over to the DOJ meet the obligations of the subpoena.

The Washington Examiner has reached out to Meadows’s attorney for comment.

One of Meadows’s top aides in the White House, Ben Williamson, was also recently subpoenaed, according to CNN, which said that grand jury subpoena was similar to what others close to Trump have received. Like Meadows, Williamson also cooperated with the Jan. 6 committee, according to CNN.

The DOJ reportedly issued 40 subpoenas in the past week to Trump aides related to events leading up to the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, seizing some phones in the process, as its investigation in the efforts to overturn the 2020 election ramp up.

MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell, a Trump ally and supporter of the former president’s claims that the 2020 election was stolen, claimed on his podcast Tuesday that FBI agents presented him with a warrant outside a Hardee’s restaurant and seized his cellphone.
