But two groups that work closely with Latinos, the liberal think tank NDN and Future Majority, tell us that they see a Democratic wave of Latinos coming in November, at least in the Senate.
Pollster Fernand Amandi said his numbers suggest Democrats aren’t the trouble that Republicans see in Nevada, Arizona, and Pennsylvania. They did show erosion in Florida and Texas, but not nationally, and NDN’s Simon Rosenberg said Democrats need to do a better job selling the successes, not dwelling on the problem areas.
“I think this perception that there’s been some kind of fundamental shift or erosion or weakness with Democrats and Hispanics is false and wrong. And all of us need to challenge this far more aggressively,” he told supporters last week.
“The way I would view this is that Democrats have had an amazing success and we’ve had a setback in Florida. There’s no ‘but’ here. It’s success and we’ve got work to do in Florida. And I think we’re going to be working hard to try to change the narrative,” Rosenberg said.
