Police identified Stewart after he posted a photo on the encrypted messaging service EncroChat. The photo showed a block of Mature Blue Stilton Marks & Spencer cheese that he was holding in his left hand.

Law enforcement was able to analyze his palm and fingerprints after being able to crack the encryption service and thus could identify him.

He was “caught out by his love of Stilton cheese,” Merseyside Police Detective Inspector Lee Wilkinson said, according to CBS News.

The police department said it has identified about 60,000 EncroChat users, many of whom used it for illegal activities.
