An 8-year-old boy and five teenagers were all hit with gunfire from Thursday to Friday during a spat of violence in Chicago.
The 8-year-old was struck in the knee after an unknown shooter opened fire around 6 p.m. on Thursday, police said. The boy, who was not the intended target, was taken to a local hospital and has stabilized.
Less than an hour later, two teenage boys, 15 and 16, were hit with bullets while walking down a street. Both are expected to survive after being rushed to a medical facility, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

Earlier on Thursday, another 16-year-old was getting into his car when he was shot in the heel. A different 16-year-old boy was shot in the thigh in what is being described as a self-inflicted wound.
A 14-year-old girl who suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the abdomen Friday was the latest minor to be shot throughout the 11-hour time frame. She is listed in fair condition at a local hospital.
No arrests have been made in connection to the crimes.
In total, 18 people were struck with gunfire Thursday, of whom two were pronounced dead. Victims were struck in the neck, leg, back, face, and hand.

A 25-year-old who was shot in the abdomen and arm died following the violence, and a 34-year-old was killed after taking a round to the face and leg.
In one instance, a 24-year-old concealed carry permit holder returned fire after an unknown gunman fired shots.
