“Elimination Chamber,” World Wrestling Entertainment’s upcoming event in Australia, hit a snag in the Suez Canal that delayed the arrival of its ring setup by a month.
“Originally it was supposed to ship through the Suez Canal, but pirates ended those plans,” WWE commentator Michael Cole explained to fans in Perth, Australia. “So it was sent to Miami, transported via truck to Los Angeles, taken by ship to Sydney, and then by train to Perth.”
WWE did not respond to the Washington Examiner’s request for comment.
The involved pirates are presumably the Yemen-based Iranian Houthi rebels that have recently launched missiles at ships in the Red Sea. Houthis have launched over 30 times since mid-November.
In response, the United States destroyed several missiles belonging to the Houthis and 36 of their stockpiles earlier this month. Before the U.S. retaliation, the Houthis appeared poised to attack Navy ships in the area.
Traffic in the Suez Canal has dropped by 82%, according to the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development. This has led to a 40% drop in revenue for the canal.

Still, the Houthis remain largely armed and dangerous. President Joe Biden designated the Yemeni Houthis as a specially designated global terrorist organization once again at the beginning of this year after removing the group from the blacklist earlier in his term.
Elimination Chamber is set for Saturday on Peacock.
