Georgia GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene blasted Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York as a “coward” for refusing to debate about the Green New Deal and other left-wing policy proposals.
PELOSI CALLS FOR HOUSE ETHICS COMMITTEE TO INVESTIGATE MARJORIE TAYLOR GREENE
“She’s a coward, and she’s a fraud. And she’s a fake. If she can’t come out and defend her policy, the Green New Deal, in the chamber where we debate things, on C-SPAN, which everyone can watch,” Greene told reporters on Thursday.
Greene, a first-term lawmaker, chased after Ocasio-Cortez following a House vote Wednesday and scolded her for supporting antifa and Black Lives Matter.
“She’s the one that’s the coward, and she’s a bully to the American people for wanting to force socialism on them just by ramming bills through, without being willing to debate her policies,” Greene said, adding the New York Democrat is also defending “terrorists” such as Hamas, antifa, and Black Lives Matter, “who have done violence all over our country.”
Greene was criticized by Democrats for not being civil toward other members of Congress and harassing Ocasio-Cortez. The Georgia Republican defended her actions, saying, Democrats have never been civil to Republicans, especially to her since the Jan. 6 riot at the Capitol.
“It would be nice if they would treat us civilly, but ever since Jan. 6, they can’t even treat us with respect. And we, we were just as much as victims of the riot here too,” she said. “We didn’t cause it, all these lies that they, they say on and on and on, you know, they need to be civil. None of them are civil to me.”
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Thursday called Greene’s behavior “a verbal assault and real abuse of our colleague, AOC.” Pelosi suggested the 10-member, bipartisan House Ethics Committee should open an investigation into Greene’s actions.
Greene responded that Pelosi should be the one who is investigated.
“I think the Ethics Committee should look into Nancy Pelosi and why she didn’t have National Guard here on Jan. 6, when she knew ahead of time. How about that?” she said. “President Trump asked for [the National Guard] on Jan. 5.”

House Democrats stripped Greene of her committee assignments earlier in the year for threatening social media posts from prior to Greene’s tenure in Congress.
