A conversation on US energy policy and the effects of climate change

George Washington University's Graduate School of Political Management and the Washington Examiner present a virtual panel event centering on how U.S. energy policy is confronting the impact of climate change.

Moderated by Washington Examiner energy and environment reporter Josh Siegel, this expert panel of former members of Congress, journalists, and energy industry veterans discuss the challenges that current and future policymakers face as the effects of climate change intensify.

Selby Bush is the acting head of corporate affairs at BHP, specializing in petroleum, and an adjunct professor at the GW Graduate School of Political Management. Prior to joining BHP, she was a senior state government affairs representative at The Williams Companies, one of the premier energy infrastructure companies in the United States. She previously worked for Sen. Tom Coburn and for the Republican National Committee’s Victory 2008 Campaign as a state communications director for the Republican Party of Arkansas.

Barnini Chakraborty is the senior investigations reporter at the Washington Examiner. She has previously worked at Fox News as a senior features and politics reporter. She's also worked at Fox Business as a field producer and at Dow Jones. She began her career at the Augusta Chronicle in Georgia.

Ryan Costello is a public policy consultant who works with lobbyists, the media, and corporate executives, advising organizations and companies on policy objectives and strategic communications. He previously spent 16 years in public service and private law practice. As a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from 2015 to 2019 representing a portion of the Philadelphia suburbs, Costello was a bridge-builder who led on diverse and often complex issues. In 2018, Quorum Analytics recognized him as one of the top 10 most bipartisan members of Congress.

Josh Siegel is an energy and environment reporter at the Washington Examiner and helps author the Daily on Energy newsletter. Prior to coming on staff, he covered foreign policy, immigration, and criminal justice. He graduated from Florida Gulf Coast University, where he studied business and journalism and was the sports editor of the Eagle News. He grew up in Chicago and still subscribes to the newspaper there.
